Science 2/8

Last week in science we had our quest about matter. I got stuck on a few of the questions but over all it went pretty well. After the quest we started designing spools on tinkercad because the third and fourth graders were planning to go ice fishing.

We also did a lab. What we did in our lab was we had a big beaker with cold water and a little beaker with hot green water. Then we took our pipettes and took some of the green water and gently dropped it into our cold water. The green water drops turned into rings when we dropped them in. Then Shane had us predict what would happen if we also put in salt water. My prediction was that the salt water would get rid of the green water and make it totally clear.

While we were doing the lab we started putting the pipettes under the water when we squeezed and we realized it looked like farts. So then we started making fart sounds when we did it.

Science 2/1

Last week we solved a crime with different powders. Because in the crime there was a strange powder that the police did not know of. The powders that we compared it to was “cocaine”, “aspirin”, baking powder, and another one that I don’t remember. After the testing we discovered that the strange powder acted the same as the “Cocaine”.

We also learned about matter and physical changes such as chopping down a tree. You may not be able to put the tree back together but it is still the same tree, just cut down. A chemical change would have fizzing, color change, or and odor.
